sound as a practice of listening and presence
listening as a way of knowing
work with sound in a way
that turns it into a space you can inhabit —
something you feel with the body
as much as you hear
sound as a practice of listening and presence
listening as a way of knowing
work with sound in a way
that turns it into a space you can inhabit —
something you feel with the body
as much as you hear
sound as a form
of embodied knowledge —
something
that can transmit
both information
and emotion
without words
draw on minimalism
and on traditions
where sound holds
memory and presence
at the same time
A residency for creating sound with hands and heart. For 7 participants for 4 days among trees and silence. Creating musical instruments from found objects. Workshop on creating experimental musical instruments with Manukians Studio. At this laboratory, each and every one was asked to develop their own tool in the form of a certain box (of any size and material), the filling of which was a unique continuation of the author.
Through certain practices of inclusion in the creative mode, the focus was directed to finding one's sound. This was an experimental workshop for participants with any experience, where was important to try, explore, share, fantasize.
The main idea of this workshop was to focus on listening and sensory perception to allow participants to express themselves freely and explore the world of sound in a contemplative and playful way in a label-free space for joint experimentation.
This practice was intended to promote the appropriate attitude for extending receptivity to the entire space/time continuum of sound.
Workshop activities included exercises for enhancing bodily senses, working with emotional states, singing, rhythmic exercises, improvisation with both acoustic and electronic instruments, synchronisation exercises, unleashing creative fantasies, exploring imagery, and tapping into streams of consciousness.

FREEBUTTREE was a Kyiv-based experimental ensemble combining free improvisation, jazz tradition, and collective composition. Consisting of ten musicians with diverse instruments and individual styles, the group functioned as a single organism, creating multi-layered sonic landscapes in real time. The project explored the possibilities of collective interaction without prior agreements, where timbre, dynamics, and spatial perception became the core compositional elements.
Founded in 2021, the ensemble performed on Kyiv’s improvisation scene and presented works including a broadcast for Kunstradio (Austria). FREEBUTTREEserved as a platform for crossing musical and performative practices, opening space for risk, experimentation, and mutual sensitivity among participants. The project concluded its active phase in February 2022.
