Let's imagine that everything around us is musical instruments. But how can we identify certain signs? Almost every sounding object can be deconstructed into a body, trigger/nerve (button, string, twister, motor, etc.) and ear (sensor/amplifier/resonator).
Among the entire multiverse possible at this laboratory, each and every one will be asked to develop their own tool in the form of a certain box (of any size and material), the filling of which will be a unique continuation of the author. Through certain practices of inclusion in the creative mode, the focus will be directed to finding one's sound. This will be an experimental workshop for participants with any experience, where it is important to try, explore, share, fantasize. This is a "sandbox" where we will have a great time.
This laboratory is inspired by such sound artists as Koka Nikoladze, Daniel Jansson, Petr Válek, Jiří Suchánek. Its philosophy is complexity and beauty in simplicity, based on the principle: do less to be more.
Among the directions, in addition to creating unique musical instruments, you can also work on the preparation/repair of ready-made ones, or create a replica of an existing model.
What we do:
1. research / sound search / acoustic experiment
2. understanding / sketching / scheme
3. selection of parts and components
4. crafting / processing of materials
5. electrification
6. settings
7. customization / personalization / aesthetics
🔸This is a "sandbox" where we will try, explore, share and fantasize according to the principle: do less to do more.
🔸The starting point will be a certain box - of any size and material. Through various techniques and directions, we will prepare it in search of the right sound. Let's connect the piezo sensor and sound the instrument through the speakers, and then continue to delve into its capabilities.
🔸Let's start by building a variety of simple musical instruments or sound objects that can be played. It can be a noise sound or a single note instrument. The first level is a tool that can be mastered in a few minutes. And then we will go as far as imagination will allow.
